Chris Bohjalian’s new novel, The Hour of the Witch, about a Puritan wife who shocks her community and risks her life to file for divorce in 1662 Boston, has just been released.

In addition, The Washington Post described his new collection as The Crucible meets The Handmaid’s Tale, and called it “historical fiction at its best.” The Hour of the Witch is an IndieNext Pick for May, the Barnes & Noble May National Book Club Selection, a Read It Forward Most Anticipated Book of 2021, a Lit Hub Most Anticipated Book, and a CrimeReads Most Anticipated Book of 2021.

Also, Publisher’s Weekly described The Hour of the Witch as “a horror-inflected thriller,” and Jane Ammeson, from The Times of Northwest India, said it’s “well-researched and chilling.”
