IALA Yerevan Chapter Workshop: Land Between Rivers

IALA’s Yerevan Chapter, led by Angela Hassassian and Nazareth Seferian, is pleased to invite you to land between rivers, a creative writing workshop reflecting on water as both subject and metaphor. 

The bilingual workshop, co-facilitated by Nyree Abrahamian and Tatevik Sargsyan, offers a space to write from daily observations, forms of fabulations, and the wisdom of landscapes held around us.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the works of writers and artists like Natalie Diaz, Aram Pachyan, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, Sonia Balassanian, Karan Shrestha and others, use engaging prompts to write and experiment, and hold space to share reflections and readings with the wider group.

Location: Library for Architecture, 35G Tumanyan Street, Yerevan

Participation: Free but limited to 15 people (first come, first served)

Nyree Abrahamian is a Canadian-Armenian poet and creative producer who lives in Yerevan. She produces Country of Dust, an award-winning narrative podcast, and co-founded the Tumanyan International Storytelling Festival. Her poems are published in Mizna, Poetry Northwest, PEN/Opp, and Protean Magazine, among others. Nyree is an MFA candidate at Randolph College.

Anamot Press is a nonprofit literary arts organisation based in London, UK. Anamot publishes queer poetry and essays, develops fully funded residencies for writers, hosts creative workshops and curates interdisciplinary literary events. Tatevik Sargsyan is the founding publisher and editor of Anamot Press.

Այս ստեղծարար գրելու աշխատարանի ընթացքում կուսումնասիրենք հիշողությունը, բնապատկերները և պատմությունները՝ խորհրդածելով ջրի մասին որպես թե՛ առարկա, թե՛ փոխաբերություն։ Միասին կկարդանք տեքստերի կարճ հատվածներ, գրելու և փորձարկելու համար կօգտագործենք ուշագրավ հուշում-առաջադրանքներ և կկիսվենք մեր գրություններով խմբի հետ։ 

Աշխատարանը դուռ կբացի գրելու` ոգեշնչվելով ամենօրյա դիտարկումներից, երևակայական պատումներից և մեզ շրջապատող բնապատկերների իմաստությունից։ Ընթերցելու ենք այնպիսի հեղինակների և արվեստագետների աշխատանքներ, ինչպիսիք են Նատալի Դիազը, Արամ Պաչյանը, Լիան Բետասամոսակե Սիմփսոնը, Սոնյա Բալասանյանը և Կարան Շրեսթայը: 

Աշխատարանը կլինի անգլերեն և հայերեն լեզուներով:

Միջոցառման համակազմակերպիչներն են գրող և ստեղծագործական պրոդյուսեր Նայիրի Աբրահամեանը և «Անամոթ» հրատարակչության հրատարակիչ և խմբագիր Տաթևիկ Սարգսյանը:
