Sahar Muradi In Solidarity With Artsakh

Sahar Muradi

Recipient of the 2016 Stacy Doris Memorial Poetry Award, writer, performer, and educator Sahar Muradi joins our series of writers supporting the people of Artsakh. “My name is Sahar Muradi, and I’m a poet of Afghan heritage living in the United States. I’m here to say, I stand with the Armenians of Artsakh who have been and are currently being forcibly removed from their homes by Azerbaijan after spending more than nine months under siege with little access to medicine, to food, to basic supplies. Knowing what it’s like to be abandoned by the international community, I ask that we not look away as Azerbaijan commits unspeakable atrocities. As a poet, as a resistor, as a fellow guardian of human rights, and of the most precious thing we have, which is life, ours and each other’s, I urge you to call attention to the Armenians of Artsakh who face starvation, stolen land and ethnic hatred. Let us be and act in solidarity. Joining the circle of poets for peace, I would like to share a poem for the people of Artsakh.”
